Monoprint
Monoprint allows me to use the whole shape of my body as a tool at once and not just certain parts of it. I am not limited in dimension by a printing press and can use my body freely to move in any direction it desires. Working in a lifelike dimension also builds an effect of reality within a print and therefore a stronger connection between viewer and image.
The process of creating these monoprints is almost the most important part of the artworks, transferring and translating my subconscious into a tangible surface to give its energy an outlet for non-rational expression.

Creation process of ‘To Build A Home’

When creating ‘To Build A Home’, I was inspired by the works of both Jasper Johns and David Hammons, who created body imprints by creating an immence force and tension between their bodies and the surface. By pressing my face and my bones into the floor, putting pressure on uncomfortable positions, the struggle of emotional pain receives a physical outlet and form of representation. The element of nudity when creating monoprints adds to the pureness of the vulnerability of the process.
